SUMMARY
The City of High Point retained czb to update the community's comprehensive plan and set a strategic vision for the city's next two decades. High Point is one of three major cities in North Carolina's Piedmont Triad region, along with Greensboro and Winston-Salem. Given High Point's location and relationship to its neighboring cities, it must think regionally when it comes to its economy, housing market, and commercial development context, while also specifically dealing with issues that are hyper-local. Balancing regional realities and locally controlled opportunities was key to setting an effective vision for High Point 2045. The project began in January 2023 and was adopted by City Council in May 2024.

Engaging the community in the conversation.
High Point 2045 was guided by a 23-member steering committee and included extensive public outreach throughout the 15-month planning process. In addition to 11 open houses and multiple online surveys public questions and feedback were solicited on an ongoing basis via the project's website. Regular updates with the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council kept policy makers informed and engaged along the way.
